CLC's Version of Capture The Flag:  How to Play

Object:  To locate and capture your opponent's flag without being caught (tagged) in their territory.

There are two teams, Red and Blue.  Each team's designated territory is one half of the woods, west and east.  Each team member must wear, in a visible place, the color of their team.  The main path through the middle of the woods is neutral ground and is marked with white flags.  The Red Team's jail is the red barn on the west side of neutral territory.  The Blue Team's jail is the rubble pile on the east side of neutral territory.

Setting it Up:  Each team has 10 minutes to hide their flag.  The flags must be visible to passers-by and no higher than eye level.  It may not be tied or buried.  At the end of 10 minutes, a horn will sound once, indicating that the game may begin.

Playing the Game:  Once neutral territory is crossed, you run the risk of being caught (tagged).  If you are tagged, you must accompany your opponent to their jail and wait for a member from your team to break you out of jail.  Once your team member makes it safely to the jail, only one person can be freed by another person at a time.  You both must go back to your territory before re-entering the game.  As you make your way back to your territory, you are safe from being tagged.  Jail breaks may be called randomly by the referee of the game only.

If you or a team member is tagged in your opponent's territory with their flag in hand, the flag must be dropped and left where the tag happened.  That becomes its new location.

Strategy:  While your team is free to make its own strategy, here are some positions to consider.  Guards for your flag (but not too many or too closely, you don't want to give away the location), guards for the jail (one or two), flag seekers, territory defenders, flag decoys, etc.

Winning the Game:  When a flag is successfully captured, it must be brought to the referee outside of the woods.  At that time, a horn will sound long and once to signal the end of the game to those who are still in the woods.  At that time, EVERYONE must check in with the referee.

If at any time the horn sounds in a beep, beep, beep fashion, EVERYONE must check in with the referee IMMEDIATELY.  This is the signal for an emergency and cooperation is expected.
