Thoughts on: ALTAR CARE ASSISTANT
One of the joys of serving God is our ability to make others feel at ease; to help them realize how valuable they are when they perform acts of service themselves. Their primary function is to put at ease these people who are setting the table of the Lord and providing the bread and wine.
Lots of people think that things around church have to be done "just so" and no other way. Well, the Altar Care Ministry is there to prove that myth wrong.
They are a neat group of people who are always available to help when needed -without taking over - and to fill in and "pinch hit". Look for them, use them, and thank them for their help.
Instructions & Helpful Hints
1. Make sure you know who is scheduled for Bread and Wine and Altar Care.
2. Arrive 20 minutes before the service begins.
3. Locate the people scheduled for Altar Care and Bread and Wine.
4. Introduce yourself, and offer your assistance.
5. If the people scheduled don't arrive in time please make sure their responsibilities get done. However, don't become frantic; wait until ten or twelve minutes before the Worship begins.
A SUMMARY
We sure want to thank these sometimes "invisible" people for their commitment and dedication. We also want to remind them not to get uptight about what they are doing. As we always tell the acolytes, "Nobody knows if you are doing it "right" anyway." God bless you and keep smiling!
