THE PRAYER HEDGE

The PRAYER HEDGE MINISTRY here at Community is a vital part of our health, safety and growth. The Prayer Hedge makes it very personal as our ministers take a personal interest in the families they are assigned. This ministry is based on some verses from the Book of Job in the Old Testament. In the story, Satan is asking God about Job, and complaining that He, God, has put a hedge around him; so Job is a man of God because he is protected. (Job 1:9-10a ADoes Job fear God for nothing?@  Satan replied. AHave you not put a hedge around him and his household and everything he has?@) Because God put a hedge around Job, we can ask Him to put hedges around us.

There are many, many things contrary to God and His Word attacking us every single day. If they are allowed to influence or affect us, our thoughts will turn toward ourselves and we will be ineffective as witnesses for Jesus Christ in a sin-sick world. Therefore, we pray a Ahedge@ around each other for protection from Satan and all his ways, from the world, and any influence it will have on our own sinful flesh. Since Angels are ministering servants of God, we can also ask for a hedge or wall of angels for protection.

HOW IT WORKS:

The Prayer Hedge list is rotated and generated every two months. This list of the families assigned and cards are put in the ministers= mailboxes. The cards are filled out with names, date, and phone number, and placed in the receiving families mailbox. In this age of computers, we suggest that an email address is also included, if possible. We especially ask that the Non-Resident and shut-ins cards are mailed out so they will also know you are praying for them. If possible, we will supply email and/or addresses of our college students and military members away from home.
