Child Care

                                    NURSERY

The nursery is one of the most important outreach ministries of Community because the nursery gives parents their first impression of our church and helps nurture faith in God’s youngest lambs. The way it looks and is staffed shows parents how seriously we take the care and well-being of their children. The nursery helps young parents to feel welcome.

Community is fortunate to have several dedicated paid nursery staff that provide the familiar face to youngsters and their parents every week. In addition, Nursery ministry opportunities abound. We don’t view your time spent in the nursery as babysitting but as an opportunity show Jesus’ love to the little ones and their families – to be Jesus with skin on.

Don’t ever forget what an integral, important part of our total ministry the nursery really is! It just might give someone the chance to hear God’s Word! Now that’s proclaiming the Gospel, even if you can’t preach like Paul.

Instructions & Helpful Hints

1.                  Arrive at least 20 minutes early and report to the nursery as scheduled. Be sure to sign-in.

2.                  Become familiar with the “pager system” and child sign-in sheet.

3.                  Smile and greet people as they arrive.

4.         Be loving and friendly to the children so they can enjoy church too. Play games, read/tell stories, etc.

5.                  Remain until children have been picked up after worship.

6.                  Straighten and clean up the nursery.

7.                  Remember, some people might be running late, so if there aren’t any children by the time the service begins, wait another five minutes.

8.                  In the rare event no children show for nursery, sit by the rear of the church so you can leave with a child or parent – if and when they leave church. Be sure to help them find the nursery so worship can continue.

9.                  Remember the church’s liability insurance requires two nursery workers to be in each nursery every time the nurseries are open!!

There are a lot of churches without nurseries, but there isn’t a single growing church without one. Be a nursery attendant and do it with a loving smile because you’re caring for God’s Little Children.
