Membership Class
The Membership Class is designed to introduce potential new members to the beliefs and doctrines of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod. In addition, the organization and practices of Community Lutheran Church are explained. Class sessions are usually held during Bible Study on Sundays and one Saturday. One session addresses each of the following topics: Prayer, Service, Spiritual Gifts, Bible Study, Witness, Giving, Sacraments, Worship, and Mission-Minded Church. Breakfast is provided at each class session as well as lunch at the Saturday session. The first class is always an opportunity for the New Members and any current members to introduce themselves and how they came to be at CLC. The final class is usually taking the Spiritual Gifts Discovery Survey, followed by the class joining the family of CLC that week or the week after.
There are several opportunities for current members of CLC to serve with the New Members class.
· Any, and especially those with the gift of hospitality, are encouraged to join us each week to help welcome the class and answer questions they may have about what is being addressed. Sharing personal stories and knowledge on each topic is very much appreciated.
· For those gifted in cooking (or can fake it), you are needed to help prepare the food each morning or the lunch on Saturday.
· If you are more of a behind the scenes worker, there are several paper work items to handle, such as mailings, compiling all the data collected for each New Member class, making name tags, sign in sheets, and printing class schedules.
Gaining new brothers and sisters in Christ is the only way to help His church grow. A few minutes of your time will have a great impact on this ministry.
