Creative Arts - Drama

Ministry Description

This ministry enhances worship with drama, sketches and skits that point to the message of the day. Dramatic presentation and storytelling is not new to the church. In fact, we emulate Christ who was the first Christian storyteller through the use of parables. Individuals serving in a dramatic ministry must have a worshipful attitude and be willing to serve the Lord with excellence in their preparation and presentation.

Serving Opportunities

»      Actors - Once sketches are chosen or written for a service, they need to be cast. Actors will study a script, memorize lines and movement, and present their performance as a character. People of all ages, shapes and sizes are needed to portray biblical and real-life characters.

»      Puppets - Puppeteers are not usually seen, but they are heard. Mostly used to connect with children, cartoon-like puppets are manipulated by individuals who can read off a script and move both hands at the same time.

»      Exaltation - A new dance troupe forming to bring a new form of glory to our God. There will be opportunities for both solo and group dancers to help tell the story of a song or to enhance emotions portrayed through music.

»      Writers - Creative writing is a gift that some people are reluctant to share. If you have an idea for a script for live action, puppets or video, we’d love to help you develop it into something to be prepared for a worship service. Please note that anything written will be reviewed by the ministry staff before it is rehearsed and presented for worship.

»      Backstage - In order for any of the above areas to be presented to its fullest capacity, there needs to be a group of “behind-the-scenes” people to “set the stage.” A stage and/or set needs to be designed and built. Props need to be gathered for use by actors. Costumes need to be envisioned, made, or sought out and selected to fit the appropriate performer. Make-up needs to be applied and hair needs to be styled. All of these areas are not used on a regular basis. However, being ready to serve in one of these important areas when needed is extremely important.
