Family Movie Night
Going to the movies can be an expensive hassle. Family Movie Night is an outreach event specifically for families with young children. We offer child-friendly movies on the big screen with slightly dimmed lights, free snacks, fun activities, a short intermission for a bathroom break and the opportunity to bring your own pillow and blanket to relax with – all for FREE!
When parents leave with their children and are thanking you for such a fun evening, assuring you they’ll be back next time, you know you’ve made a difference and the beginnings of an important relationship. It’s a relationship that can impact that family’s future with Christ and CLC.
God’s Little Children
GLC is an outreach ministry geared to preschool aged children through third grade and their families. This ministry gives us an opportunity to invite families with young children to fun holiday parties that include the message of Jesus and His saving love.
Being a part of this ministry team means you get to work with others who love kids as you plan and organize the different party’s activities. It also gives you a chance to represent how fun and wonderful Community Lutheran Church is to the people in our community who may be waiting to have a reason to worship with us.
4th/5th Grade Youth
The fourth and fifth graders of CLC and their friends meet once per month for two hours, usually on Friday evenings for faith-building fun. Each month the kids come to a safe and fun environment perfect for them to grow in their friendships, life experiences and faith in the Lord. This is accomplished through team building activities, hands-on devotions, unique learning experiences and crazy leaders who love God, kids and having fun.
Working with this age group gives you a chance to build relationships with kids who are just coming into the age where they can think about life, faith, and God more abstractly. It’s so important for kids this age to begin building a relationship with an adult friend for whom they can look up to and is not their parent.
Junior High Youth (6-8th grade)
The sixth through eighth graders of CLC and their friends have monthly Cell Group meetings in addition to off-site, fun events (i.e. Laser Tag and Cosmic Bowling). Cell group meetings take place in the kids’ homes once per month for two hours, usually on Sunday evenings for fun activities, Bible studies and snacks. That student’s parents host the group while the junior high ministry team leads the meeting and activities. Also parts of the junior high ministry are retreats and service projects.
The junior high kids are so ready to have fun with adults! When you, an adult, show these kids respect at the same time you are having fun and teaching/learning Christian truths with them, you are making an unbelievably huge impact in their lives. That’s what makes junior high ministry so much fun and so rewarding!
High School Youth (9-12th grade)
The ninth through twelfth graders of CLC and their friends hold monthly Cell Group meetings, in addition to Last Sunday and off-site events (i.e. Laser Tag and Cosmic Bowling). Cell group meetings take place in the kids’ homes once per month for two hours, usually on Sunday evenings for fun activities, Bible studies and snacks. The parents host the group while the high school ministry team leads the meeting and activities. Last Sunday is held on the last Sunday night of each month and is a time of praise, games, snacks, devotions and more! Retreats and service projects are also a part of the high school youth ministry. Being involved in any aspect of high school youth ministry is a terrific way to make an impact on the kingdom of God.
