L.A.D.D. is Life After Death or Divorce and is a support group for anyone in these categories, who would like some help dealing with the issues that go along with losing a loved one.  If you have never been married but have been in a long-term relationship, come and join us.

L.A.D.D. has a varied program so we can offer something that will help you.

We meet in the Community Room of Community Lutheran Church at 7:00 p.m. every Monday.  If this is your first time, please arrive by 6:50 p.m. so a facilitator can sit and talk with you to help determine how we can help you the most.

Dismissal is between 9:00 and 9:30 p.m.  
Dress is casual  - in good taste
Cost is $3.00 per week  (for refreshments and some materials - $4 pizza night)

FILM NIGHT FOR THE WIDOWED.

The film we will be watching tonight is “The journey of Grief.”  This film prepares us for what to expect along the journey of grief.  It also emphasizes that everyone’s journey will be unique and warns against comparing grief experiences.  Divorce is the death of a relationship so it will apply to both groups.

DISCUSSION NIGHT

We will discuss a specific topic for the first 20 minutes and then go on to discuss whatever topics you would like to talk about.  Because there are 5 Mondays in this month, we will be having two discussion nights.  However, we will NOT be having Pizza tonight.

MOVIE NIGHT- LOVE HAPPENS PG 13

A man who is a widower makes a living as an expert on grieving.  During the course of teaching a seminar, he meets and begins to fall for a woman, a discovery that leads him to face up to the fact he is stuck in his own grief and has not fully reconciled the loss of his wife.  Discussion will follow.

PERSONAL GROWTH SPEAKER NIGHT

Tonight's speaker is Sean Pacheco of the Brownstown Police force.  He has a four year degree in law enforcement.  He has been with the force for 27 years and received many awards during this time.  He will be talking about “Are We Safe In 2010?-NOT.”  Come learn how to keep ourselves safe, from robbery, violence, date rape, etc. Discussion will follow.

Chat and Snack Night: We will be ordering pizza and having a discussion night.  For the first part of the session Pat Pitcher from H&R block will be here to give us an up date on the latest tax edits issued by the IRS.  Come and see what she has to say.  The last half of the meeting will be our regular discussion night.

The film we will be watching tonight is “Facing My Depression.”  Depression can paralyze a person going through divorce as well as a person who has lost a spouse through death.  Despite this, it can be a “healing emotion,” and this seminar explores constructive responses to depression.  Discussion will follow.

 

APRIL 12

 

MOVIE MIGHT- “Must Love Dogs” PG13

A woman who is dealing with the emotions of divorce is forced into dating by her well meaning sister.  Her sister puts her info on the internet.  Come and see how she handles the responses and the things she goes through trying to find the perfect man.

 

APRIL 19

 

PERSONAL GROWTH SPEAKER NIGHT

Tonight’s speaker is Paula Whitman.  Paula is a doctorate level psychologist who works at Monroe Community Mental Health Authority.  She is also the founder of Paula’s house, a transition house for women in Monroe.   Paula will be talking about “How Change Influences Our Lives.”  Changes such as, divorce, loss of job, death of a spouse, etc all have tremendous influence on how we handle life. Discussion will follow.
